The Science, Technology, and Cultural Identity Reading Group
We meet monthly on Fridays from 12:00-1:00PM at the Gender Women Studies House located at 911 S. Sixth Street
Our Mission
For the 2007-2008 academic year the Program in Science, Technology, Information, and Society (STIM) will host a reading group with the theme of Science, Technology, and Cultural Identity. The social and cultural study of science and technology has had a long tradition at the University of Illinois and this reading group continues this intellectual endeavor by developing a reading group that expands the scope of STIM into new domains while maintaining its emphasis on Science & Technology Studies (STS). This reading group seeks to promote cross-disciplinary integration as a way to explore the rich and compelling ways human societies produce and use science and technology, and how individuals locate themselves with and among changes in science and technology.
